House of Fermentation

Dear Customers, With a heavy heart, I must announce an abrupt pause in my kimchi-making business due to the relentless legal battle waged by our landlord over the past five years regarding our tenancy at Witte De Withstraat 148H, Amsterdam. Although the initial court ruling favored House of Fermentation, the high court has since overturned that decision. We received this judgment on March 21st. While we were granted three months to arrange payments and vacate the space, the landlord’s lawyer has made it clear—through aggressive language—that they will pursue all means necessary to collect. As a result, we have made the painful decision to leave immediately in order to preserve the spirit of House of Fermentation. It breaks my heart that we cannot offer a smoother transition at this time. But before you know it, somewhere new, with a fresh look—suddenly, you will know it’s the same place. More than anything, you will recognize The Quality. For now, and in the weeks ahead, I will be navigating piles of paperwork and continuing my research.
